Connect your own AI agent (MCP)
Let a local AI agent such as Claude Code or Cursor read PressedMail through a small free plugin.
The PressedMail MCP Connector is a small free plugin. It gives your site a Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint, so an AI agent you run yourself (Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client) can use PressedMail as you.
The agent gets exactly what your WordPress user gets in PressedMail. No more. PressedMail’s own permission and mailbox checks run on every call.
What it can do today
Read your tags: the list, one tag by id, and what tags can do. That’s deliberate. Every operation an agent can reach is reviewed first, and inbox and campaign operations arrive as each one passes that review.
What you need
- PressedMail installed and active.
- HTTPS on your site.
- WordPress Application Passwords switched on. They are on by default; some security plugins turn them off.
Install it
- Download pressedmail-mcp-0.1.0.zip.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins, then Add New, then Upload Plugin, and choose the file.
- Activate PressedMail MCP Connector.
Make a password for the agent
- Go to Users, then Profile.
- Under Application Passwords, type a name like “Claude Code” and click Add New Application Password.
- Copy the password. WordPress shows it once.
Use your own user, or a user made just for the agent with only the mailboxes it should see. Revoke the password on the same screen any time.
Point your agent at it
The endpoint is:
https://your-site.example/wp-json/pressedmail-mcp/v1/mcp
The agent signs in with HTTP Basic: your WordPress username and the application password. Make the header value once:
printf 'your-username:xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx' | base64Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http pressedmail \
https://your-site.example/wp-json/pressedmail-mcp/v1/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Basic <the base64 value>"Clients that read a JSON config (Cursor and most others):
{
"mcpServers": {
"pressedmail": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://your-site.example/wp-json/pressedmail-mcp/v1/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Basic <the base64 value>" }
}
}
}Ask the agent to list your PressedMail tags. If it can, you’re done.
If it doesn’t connect
- 401: the username or application password is wrong, or Application Passwords are off on your site.
- 404: the connector isn’t active, or permalinks are set to Plain. Pick any other permalink setting.
- A notice that PressedMail is missing: the connector needs PressedMail active first.
