Upgrade and Uninstall

Replace the PressedMail Pro ZIP safely and choose whether plugin data is retained when uninstalling.

PressedMail Pro can be upgraded by uploading the newer ZIP over the installed plugin. Uninstall behavior depends on the plugin's data-retention setting.

An available update, and what uninstalling keeps

Upgrade

  1. Download the current Pro ZIP from pressedmail.com/home/downloads.
  2. In WordPress, open Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the new ZIP and select Install Now.
  4. When WordPress detects the existing plugin, choose the replacement/update option.
  5. Return to PressedMail and confirm the inbox, settings, and license status still load.

The license key is stored in WordPress options, so a normal plugin replacement should not require reactivation. If the site URL changed or the key was removed, activate it again from PressedMail > Settings > Licensing.

Deactivate without deleting data

Deactivate PressedMail from Plugins > Installed Plugins when you only need to pause the plugin. Deactivation does not remove connected account records, cached message metadata, contacts, calendar data, settings, or the saved license key.

Uninstall and data retention

PressedMail keeps plugin data by default when WordPress uninstalls the plugin. This protects account configuration and cached metadata from accidental deletion.

To permanently remove PressedMail data during uninstall:

  1. Open PressedMail > Settings > Security & Access.
  2. Enable Delete plugin data on uninstall in the Danger Zone.
  3. Confirm the warning dialog.
  4. Deactivate and delete the plugin from WordPress.

When that setting is enabled, uninstall.php deletes PressedMail accounts, cached messages, contacts, calendar events, settings, and related plugin data. This cannot be undone from PressedMail.

Moving to another site

Before removing the old site, deactivate the license from PressedMail > Settings > Licensing or from Home > Sites in the PressedMail account. Then install and activate the Pro ZIP on the replacement WordPress site.
