Update, deactivate, and uninstall
Update plugin files, pause the plugin, or deliberately remove its local data.
Updating replaces plugin files. Deactivating pauses the plugin. Uninstalling can also remove local data, depending on the setting you choose. Back up WordPress before an update or edition change.
Update an existing installation
Free installs from WordPress.org receive directory updates through WordPress. Paid builds use the PressedMail update service and need an eligible license. Check the website's release notes before updating.
- Open Dashboard > Updates or Plugins > Installed Plugins.
- Apply the available PressedMail update.
- Open PressedMail and confirm the inbox loads.
- Check one mailbox refresh and, on paid sites, the license status.
For a manual paid update, download the Pro ZIP from Downloads, then use Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin. Choose WordPress's replacement option when it detects the installed plugin. A normal replacement retains settings and the saved license key.
If an update is missing or the installed files show an integrity warning, use Installation, licensing, and updates. A Beta download is a test build, not the current customer release.
Deactivate without deleting data
Use Deactivate in Plugins > Installed Plugins to pause PressedMail. Connected accounts, cached mail data, contacts, events, preferences, and the saved license key remain in WordPress.
Deactivation also stops PressedMail's normal background work. Check any scheduled messages or reminders before leaving it inactive.
Uninstall with or without local data
PressedMail keeps its data by default when the plugin is deleted. Reinstalling can therefore restore access to the saved configuration.
To remove local plugin data as part of uninstall:
- Open PressedMail > Settings > Security & Access.
- In the Danger Zone, enable Delete plugin data on uninstall.
- Read and confirm the warning.
- Deactivate and delete the plugin through WordPress.
This removes local accounts, cached messages, contacts, calendar records, settings, and related PressedMail data. PressedMail cannot undo that deletion. Restore from your own backup if you need the local records again. The provider mailbox is separate and is not deleted by uninstalling the client.
For a move to another domain, handle the old site's license activation before removing it. Copying WordPress does not make the new URL the same licensed site.
