Summary
1.7.0 lets you preview image and PDF attachments without downloading them, and moves the background-sync warning into Notifications, out of your way.
Added
- You can now preview images and PDFs from a message without downloading them. Open the preview with the eye button or the file name; step through a message's attachments, zoom, and download from the same window. PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP files up to 15 MB open as pictures. It works in Free and Pro and follows the existing Allow downloads switch.
- PDFs are shown in a locked-down viewer that draws each page as a picture: no scripts, forms or links run. A password-protected or damaged PDF says so and offers the download instead.
Changed
- The background-sync warning no longer sits above your mail. If background sync stays late for ten minutes, the notice shows in Notifications with a Reload button. It never appears during a first sync of a big mailbox, when being late is normal. PressedMail also freshens the sync just after you act while sync is late, and straight away when you switch back to its tab.
- Mail servers on private network addresses are refused. The PRESSEDMAIL_ALLOWED_PRIVATE_HOSTS constant from 1.6.0 is gone; the strict check now applies to every destination.
- Messages with more than three attachments fold the attachment list behind a count row you can expand.
Fixed
- Sending a saved draft removes it from the Drafts list at once. The send had always deleted the draft on the mail server, but the list could keep showing the row until the next sync.
- The account menu's Select all, Select none and Email Accounts labels now follow your language, like the rest of the app.
- Scrolling in the composer no longer leaves a thin stray line drawn over the text you are writing.
- Clicking a message marks it read promptly again. A click also freshens the sync, and that refresh now waits until you pause, so your own action reaches the mail server first; a mark-as-read the server briefly refused is sent again instead of leaving the message unread.
- A rate-limited one-click unsubscribe request now answers with the right status code (429) instead of a misleading one (400). The route refused either way; only the code was wrong.
Upgrade Notes
- Nothing to do. The preview has no setting of its own: it follows the Allow downloads switch under Settings, File Attachments, and files without a preview keep their download path.
