Summary
1.8.5 is a security release. Outlook and Gmail accounts connected with sign-in are now tied to your site, checking mail goes to the exact server address PressedMail checked, and another plugin can no longer redirect an AI request. A draft PressedMail can't display no longer takes the whole app down with it.
Added
- Nothing new in this release.
Changed
- Outlook accounts connected with Microsoft sign-in are now tied to your site. Pro: so are Gmail accounts connected with Google sign-in. PressedMail's sign-in service gives each connection a ticket made for this site, and PressedMail sends it back every time the connection renews its access.
Fixed
- Checking mail now connects to the exact server address PressedMail checked, as sending has since 1.8.2. Before, a second DNS answer could send the connection somewhere the check never saw. The server's certificate is still verified against the name you saved.
- Sending through a mail server saved with a dot at the end of its name, such as
mail.example.com., passes the certificate check again. 1.8.2 broke it. Checking mail on that server passes it too. - A draft PressedMail can't display shows an error inside the composer, with Try again to rebuild it from the message text. Before, the whole app went to "Something went wrong" and lost what was on screen.
- Saved drafts must keep link and image addresses as plain text. Ultimate: someone you share a mailbox with can no longer save a draft that breaks the app when you open it.
- Pro: another plugin can no longer change where an AI request connects after PressedMail has checked your provider's address.
- Pro: an AI provider whose name only the server's hosts file knows, with an IPv6 address only, now passes the address check.
Upgrade Notes
- Nothing to do. Each Outlook and Gmail sign-in connection picks up its ticket the next time it renews.
- Keep PressedMail up to date. PressedMail's sign-in service will later stop renewing connections for versions before 1.8.5. From then on, a site that moves to a new address signs in to its Outlook and Gmail accounts again.
