1.6.0

Summary

1.6.0 makes sync errors say what went wrong, shows shared IMAP folders, lets an administrator approve a mail server on a private address, saves your drafts for you and lets you name and colour account badges.

Added

  • Approve a mail server on a private address. If your server sits on a private IP, an administrator can list it with PRESSEDMAIL_ALLOWED_PRIVATE_HOSTS in wp-config.php. An entry is a host, host:port, an IP or a CIDR. Link-local, multicast and cloud metadata addresses stay blocked even when listed.
  • Shared and public IMAP folders show their contents. Servers such as Dovecot keep those apart and used to show only the empty top folder.
  • A draft saves itself about ten seconds after you stop typing. The footer says Saving, Saved at a time, or Could not save with a Retry. A draft with a file attached is saved when you leave the tab or close the composer instead. It is on for everyone who has never saved a preference (Settings, Mail handling, Save drafts automatically).
  • Account badges (Pro). Give each mailbox its own colour and a short name for its badge in the combined inbox (Settings, Accounts, Edit badge).
  • On a phone, the account screen has a Combined inbox row, and an open message has Move to junk (Pro).

Changed

  • Event dates follow your site language and its clock, 24 hour in German, and Start and End stack so nothing is cut off. The date picker has month and year dropdowns, and every date picker names its dropdowns and days in your language (Pro).
  • Read emails use normal weight for sender and subject. The unread dot is a little bigger.
  • A saved password stays put. The edit form shows Saved with a Change password button, so a browser can no longer fill the box and replace it by accident. The app password note shows for Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and iCloud only.
  • The readme, the privacy text and the AI settings card now say what the code does with quoted replies. Phishing and spam checks read the whole message, quoted replies and forwarded text included. Only tagging removes them (Pro).

Fixed

  • A busy mail server reads as busy. Gmail's "too many simultaneous connections" and similar refusals now show "The mail server is busy right now. PressedMail will try again in a moment." and retry after 15, 30 and then 60 seconds. Before, they said "The mail server could not be reached. Check the server settings."
  • A folder no longer stops at "1690 of 1693". A check that found new mail but fetched none of it used to report success. It now says it did not finish and asks again.
  • An old error on a folder clears once that folder syncs again. A running sync row no longer flips back to 0:13 beside an old error while an account waits to retry.
  • Switching an Outlook or Gmail account from sign-in to a password asks for the password. Before, the form said Saved and the mailbox was left with no way to sign in.
  • "Failed to load accounts" is translated, retries twice, and says PressedMail is still starting up when the server answers with an error.
  • German shows Posteingang for Inbox. On a phone the combined view is labelled All accounts (Alle Konten in German), not "all".
  • The AI writing tools (draft, reply, rewrite, copilot, subject) check the AI switches on the server. Before, only their buttons were hidden, so a signed-in user could call them directly with AI turned off (Pro).
  • An email with its own dark-mode styles no longer shows light text on a white page in the reading pane. The pane stays light, as designed, whatever your system theme.
  • A long paste should no longer scroll the composer's buttons out of view.
  • AI drafting cuts a long prompt at 10,000 characters, like the other composer tools, as the privacy text says (Pro).
  • Every new calendar starts on your clock, not only the first one you create (Pro).

Upgrade Notes

  • Most sites have nothing to do.
  • Draft autosave is on unless you saved preferences before. Turn it off under Settings, Mail handling.
  • The calendar clock follows your site language unless you picked 12 or 24 hour before.
  • If PressedMail refused your mail server because it sits on a private address, add PRESSEDMAIL_ALLOWED_PRIVATE_HOSTS to wp-config.php.

...I save hours & it's easy to use...

I have a lot of email accounts and it's annoying to manage them through different providers. I installed PressedMail, added my accounts, and automated the cleanup of over 3000 emails. PressedMail has saved me hours of work.

...Helps get more clients...

As a freelancer I need to manage several clients' accounts. I installed PressedMail on WordPress on localhost and use it as my main email client. I manage everything for clients from PressedMail. And several clients use PressedMail now after I have set their WordPress instances up.

...Email Swiss Army Knife...

We use PressedMail as a value added service for clients and potential clients as a feature of our agency's offering helping put us ahead of competition. We love the white-labelling feature, automation, and security controls. It also replaces several of the other plugins we used to use and it's like a small CRM.
