Summary
1.4.2 gets mail moving again on sites where the inbox had gone quiet. New mail
now arrives in the background on its own, the Refresh button fetches it, and a
site waiting for approval still receives mail. If your inbox has not moved since
you updated to 1.4.1, this release is the fix.
Fixed
- New mail arrives in the background again. The background pass checked every
folder for new mail except the Inbox, so the Inbox only caught up when someone
opened the app or pressed Refresh. It now checks the Inbox with the rest.
- Webhooks no longer stop mail sync. On a site with Webhooks on, one email with
an accent, a dash or an emoji in its subject or sender made WordPress refuse
the webhook record, and that rolled back the whole sync page, so nothing behind
that email was ever mirrored. Those characters are now stored as JSON escapes.
- Sites paused by the copied-site approval check receive mail again. That check
is there so a copied or restored site cannot replay unattended work against
mailboxes it inherited, and it was also blocking the read-only sync that
fetches your mail into this site. Reading mail is not what it protects. Sync
now runs, and everything that sends, moves or deletes stays held back.
- A site waiting for approval no longer stores up work for later. Mail still
arrives, but it no longer queues webhooks, rules, auto-replies, AI tags or
spam and phishing scans that would have run against old mail the moment an
administrator approved the site. Mail that arrives while a site is waiting
does not trigger them afterwards.
- Mail deleted by another app no longer lingers in a folder that is now empty.
Junk, Archive and Trash kept the last deleted messages and stayed marked as
out of date. They are removed once the folder has been seen empty twice, so
one odd answer from a mail server cannot wipe a folder and its tags.
- The Refresh button fetches new mail. On a mailbox that was already up to date
there was no work to reorder, so the button did nothing. It now queues a check
for new mail and runs it straight away.
- Background sync no longer depends on WP-Cron firing. While the app is open it
keeps the background sweep moving on the same interval, so a site whose
WP-Cron is blocked still syncs.
- A scheduled pass that never ran no longer stops the clock for good. One missed
pass used to stop every later visit from booking another.
- The app now says when automatic mailbox work is paused, with a link to the
screen where an administrator can approve the site, instead of leaving an
inbox that had quietly stopped moving.
- A Refresh that cannot start says so, rather than looking the same as a
mailbox with nothing new in it.
Upgrade Notes
- Sites that 1.4.1 paused begin syncing again on update. No action is needed to
receive mail.
- Approval is still required before unattended work that changes a mailbox or
leaves the site (sending, rules, scheduled mail and campaigns). Sites that
have not approved show a notice in the app and on the Plugins screen, with the
approval form.
