Connect a Hestia Mailbox to PressedMail

Create and verify the mailbox in Hestia, publish the required DNS records, then connect PressedMail with the server's IMAP and SMTP settings.

Connect a Hestia-hosted mailbox to PressedMail

Hestia can run the mail services behind a domain when Exim and Dovecot were included in the server installation. PressedMail uses that existing mailbox through IMAP and SMTP.

Prepare the mailbox in Hestia

Add the mail domain and account in Hestia, then sign in through webmail. Send one message in and one out before involving WordPress. If either fails, fix the Hestia or DNS setup first.

Check the DNS records

Your domain needs an MX record aimed at the mail host, plus the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC values generated for the domain. Reverse DNS for the server IP also matters for outgoing delivery.

If Cloudflare manages the zone, keep the mail hostname set to DNS only. Its web proxy does not carry IMAP or SMTP traffic.

Add the account to PressedMail

In PressedMail, choose a custom IMAP and SMTP connection and enter the hostnames, ports, encryption methods, username, and password used by the Hestia mailbox. Use the full email address as the username unless your server is configured differently.

Test the account before saving it. Once both checks pass, PressedMail can read from the Hestia mailbox and send through its SMTP service from inside WordPress.
